Description
• Obtain check-in patient list from Pre-Op Clerk to track patients as they arrive
• Greet patients and family/support members
• Reassure family/support members who are waiting to pick up patients
• Call nurses station when patients arrive for their surgery
• Continuous communication regarding patient arrival with nurses stations and Central Registration, to compare late patients and no show patients
• Walk patients down to surgery when the nurse calls to say they are ready for the patient
• Explain Surgical Daycare Waiting Room Tracker when applicable to patients and family/support members.

Training / Work Condtions

Training Details: Will be trained once onboarded and medically cleared (including on-site TB test)
Working Conditions: • It is expected that all volunteers will actively participate in maintaining a safe workplace in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act by using the required personal protective equipment and by reporting any hazard or danger to management.
• Report all workplace injuries to the Volunteer Coordinator and Health Safety and Wellness.
• Practice meticulous hand hygiene as mandated in “Just clean your hands”.
• Actively participate in patient safety walkabouts when asked about the area(s) you volunteer in.
• Practice WHMIS safety guidelines and other OHS training, as applicable.
• Apply Emergency Response principles during code procedures by following instruction given by the lead staff member in your area.
