Impact Statement
Auxiliary members play an important role in supporting Sworn and Civilian WRPS members at special community events, fundraising initiatives, RIDE programs, emergency callouts, and a variety of other activities throughout Waterloo Region. Volunteers help strengthen community safety and engagement through activities such as traffic direction, searches for missing persons, connecting with community groups, distributing crime prevention and educational materials, and accompanying Sworn officers during their shifts.

Description
Auxiliary members support Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS) members with a variety of community safety, outreach, and operational activities. Responsibilities may include:
- Perform traffic control at assigned locations in accordance with the Highway Traffic Act.
- Support crowd management and control at assigned events.
- Assist with searches for missing persons.
- Perform special duties authorized by the Chief of Police in accordance with the Police Services Act.
- Assist with RIDE programs through traffic direction and public education.
- Participate in ride-along programs with Patrol or Traffic Services officers.
- Support community-based programs and outreach initiatives.
- Conduct telephone surveys on issues of interest to WRPS and the community.
- Distribute promotional and public education materials at community events or as needed.
- Perform other related duties as authorized by the Chief of Police.

Training / Work Condtions
Training Details: Volunteers will complete onboarding training before beginning their role, along with annual training to maintain and update their knowledge and skills.
Working Conditions: This role involves working both indoors and outdoors in a variety of community and operational settings. Volunteers may work in varying weather conditions and should be comfortable with periods of standing, walking, and other physical activity. The role may involve working in busy public environments and alongside police personnel.

The schedule is flexible and varies based on community events, operational needs, and volunteer availability. Volunteers should be prepared to participate in scheduled activities and respond to opportunities throughout the year.
