Impact Statement
The Grand Valley Trails Association (GVTA) is a non-profit, volunteer-run organization that maintains the 240 km-long Grand Valley Trail and promotes hiking in Southwestern Ontario. To help fulfill its mission, the GVTA is looking for a trail director for the Carolinian Crest (Glen Morris / Paris / Brantford / Onondaga) section of the trail.
Along with your Trail Captains, you will help the communities along the trails become aware of the valuable asset right in their midst. You will have the satisfaction knowing that you have made a contribution in keeping the Grand Valley Trail a natural footpath for many to enjoy.

Description
Each Trail Director is responsible for ensuring that their section of the trail is well maintained and in safe condition. The range of activities includes:
- Recruiting and training Trail Captains
- Assisting in organizing the trail maintenance tasks
- Initiating the process to reroute sections of the trail
- Maintaining relationships with landowners
The Trail Director recruits and trains Trail Captains to be directly responsible for trail maintenance on their area of the Grand Valley Trail. He or she assists the Trail Captains in their trail maintenance tasks when the trail work is large and/or complex and organizing work parties as needed; and works closely with the GVTA Board to report on issues, trail status, equipment needs, and/or landowner issues.

Training / Work Condtions
Training Details: Orientation to the GVTA organization and board is provided. Previous trail maintenance experience is strongly encouraged.
Working Conditions: This position is a mixture of office work to plan, budget, and organize the work with Trail Captains; and work on the trail, mostly in Brant county.

Duration: 1 year or more

It is expected that you will be available to reply to emails and phone calls in a timely manner. Estimated time commitment of eight (8) hours per month, mostly in the spring and fall.
